Driving licence: how to check a PagoPA notice before paying

Before confirming payment, check the fee, application stage and applicant details in the Portal.

Before paying a PagoPA notice for a licence, check in the Portale dell’Automobilista that the fee and stage match the procedure and that the tax code belongs to the applicant. If anything is inconsistent, correct the details before paying.

Match the fee code to the application stage

MIT’s guide to Motorizzazione payments explains that a notice must be created by selecting the fee for the relevant procedure and confirming the applicant’s details. Before authorising payment, check the description, fee code, displayed amount and application stage: filing, theory test and practical test may have different items. Regional fee schedules may also differ from the national one.

Do not start from a notice copied from an older application or an amount someone remembers. Sign in to the Portal with SPID or CIE, select the correct procedure from the fee schedule and confirm the name and tax code of the person applying, even if a family member uses their credentials to make the payment. MIT says the payment is valid only when the applicant’s tax code matches the person whose licence or document is being obtained.

Check the receipt after paying

After payment, return to “I miei pagamenti” and download or print the receipt made available by the Portal. The Ministry guide identifies that receipt as the document to submit to the UMC; a bank or payment-channel screen is not a substitute. Link the document to your application and keep it until the process is complete.

If the fee code or applicant is wrong before payment, change the applicant details where the Portal allows and generate the correct notice. If you have already paid, do not immediately make another payment: check the status and receipt and ask PagoPA support or the UMC what to do. An unused notice may follow the Ministry’s rules for reuse of the same fee code or correction of erroneous payments; do not move it to a different fee without confirmation.

To study category B questions, Quiz Patente Ufficiale offers chapters, exam quizzes, mistake review and statistics. Create and check the payment notice in the Portale dell’Automobilista.
