AM licence as a minor: who signs the application and which documents are needed

An AM application for a minor also needs a parent’s or guardian’s signature, along with the documents listed by MIT.

Applicants under 18 need a parent’s or guardian’s signature on the AM application, as well as identity documents, medical fitness evidence and the required payments.

Signatures and documents

The minimum age for an AM licence is 14. When the applicant is a minor, MIT requires the application to be signed by a parent or legal guardian as well. The adult’s signature does not replace the applicant’s signature and does not authorise riding before the learner permit or licence has been issued.

The application includes form TT2112, an identity document, a tax code or health card, proof of the medical examination and the payments listed on the ministry page. MIT sets a validity period for the medical certificate; the period differs between an ordinary medical examination and a local medical commission. Check the current instructions before submitting documents. An old receipt or an incomplete copy may mean another visit.

From application to the tests

After enrolment, you must take the theory and practical tests unless a category you already hold provides a different route under the current rules. AM covers mopeds and light quadricycles within legal definitions. The shape of the vehicle alone does not tell you whether AM is sufficient: its approved category and technical data matter.

Before booking, check who must file the application, which copies the office accepts and whether extra documents are required for a representative or for your citizenship status. For a minor, prepare the signed form, the applicant’s and representative’s identification, receipts and medical certificate together. A parent can help organise the process, but the candidate takes the tests and receives the result.

Quiz Patente Ufficiale offers AM theory quizzes, explanations, mistake review and study statistics; practical preparation remains a separate step.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum age for AM?

14, according to the MIT page. If the applicant is a minor, a parent or guardian must also sign the application.

Does the parent’s signature replace the medical examination?

No. The signature concerns the minor’s application. Medical fitness, documents and payments are separate requirements under the MIT procedure.
