AM practical test: moped or light quadricycle?

For the AM practical test, you can choose an eligible two- or three-wheel moped or a light quadricycle.

The AM practical test may use a two-wheel moped, a three-wheel moped or a light quadricycle. You must state your vehicle choice when booking the test.

Vehicle options for the AM test

The MIT allows three options for the AM practical-test vehicle: a two-wheel moped, a three-wheel moped or a light quadricycle. Appearance alone does not decide the category. A small vehicle or enclosed body is not automatically a light quadricycle; it must be officially classified and meet the applicable approval characteristics. Check the registration certificate for the specific vehicle instead of relying on a sales name.

You must choose the vehicle when booking the practical test. If you change your choice before the appointment, tell the driving school or motorisation office and ask them to update the application. The recorded choice lets the office organise the test with the corresponding vehicle. Arriving with a different category or transmission from the one declared may create an administrative and practical problem.

Choose a vehicle you can practise with

Choose a vehicle that is available for suitable preparation and that you can practise on regularly. On a moped, work on balance, trajectory and controls. In a quadricycle, account for its dimensions, steering and turning circle; manoeuvres feel different from a scooter. Your vehicle choice does not remove the theory examination or the need to learn road rules. Practical lessons develop actual control of the selected vehicle.

Before booking, check availability, technical category, transmission and how the vehicle will reach the test centre. Quiz Patente Ufficiale helps you review common road rules through chapters, quizzes, explanations, mistake review and study statistics.

Quiz Patente Ufficiale helps you revise AM questions and explanations; manoeuvre preparation requires practice on the chosen vehicle.
