KB professional certificate for taxi and chauffeur services: requirements and exam
CAP KB is linked to taxi and chauffeur services using B1 or B vehicles; it is separate from the driving licence and local service permits.
For taxi or chauffeur services in a vehicle requiring B1 or B, the relevant professional certificate is CAP KB. MIT lists age 21, a valid corresponding licence, first-aid training and a theory exam.
What the KB certificate covers
The CAP (professional qualification certificate) accompanies an ordinary driving licence for certain transport activities. Type KB concerns vehicles requiring B1 or B and the taxi and chauffeur-hire services listed by the MIT. It is not a driving-licence category and does not replace B. CAP KA, by contrast, concerns vehicles requiring A1, A2 or A.
For KB, the MIT lists a valid licence in the corresponding category, a minimum age of 21 and proof of successful attendance at a first-aid course. The ministry page also describes an application and theory exam at the motor vehicle office. Check the current documents and process before applying, since fees and operating instructions can change.
KB is not a taxi operating licence
CAP KB certifies a specific driver qualification; by itself, it does not grant a municipal authorisation to provide the service. Taxi and chauffeur-hire operations may require further titles, conditions or permits under local rules. Holding B and KB therefore does not mean someone can immediately start work: check the administrative route for the relevant municipality and service.
For example, a candidate who wants to drive a chauffeur-hire car should distinguish the licence requirement, professional KB certificate and any business or service authorisation. Confirm with the motor vehicle office and local authority which steps apply to the actual case. Frequently asked questions
Is a B licence enough to drive a taxi?
MIT lists CAP KB for the specified services when the vehicle requires B1 or B. Separate local permits may also be needed.
Can I start a chauffeur service automatically once I have KB?
No. CAP is a professional driver qualification; local service permits and other requirements must be checked separately.
