PagoPA receipt for a licence: when can it be reused?

MIT states that a PagoPA payment marked “paid” and not yet used has no expiry date; it may be reused for a procedure requiring the same fee code. A receipt cannot be transferred to a different fee or applicant.

Match the IUV, fee and applicant

A PagoPA receipt is linked to its notice, fee code and the tax code of the person for whom the procedure is being carried out. MIT’s guide says that a paid IUV not yet used has no expiry and may be used later for a procedure requiring the same fee code. This does not mean that any payment can cover any application: the fee and procedure must match.

Before reusing it, retrieve the original payment in the Portale dell’Automobilista, check that its status is “paid” and make sure the receipt has not already been used. Compare the fee code with the one required for the new application and confirm that the tax code belongs to the actual applicant. The system allows applicant details to be changed during payment, but do not assume that an issued receipt can automatically be transferred to another person.

If the fee or procedure does not match

If you paid the wrong code or no longer need the procedure, MIT describes options for erroneous or undue payments that have not been used. In some cases, the payment can be reused for a procedure requiring the same code, or converted into a voucher through the prescribed process. Do not try to fix the situation by paying a second time before checking what appears in the Portal and what the UMC requires.

According to the Ministry’s guide, the valid receipt to submit is the one printed from the Portale dell’Automobilista; the confirmation generated by a bank or payment app does not replace it. If you cannot find the receipt or the amount or applicant details do not match, contact the PagoPA assistance service for Motorizzazione procedures or the relevant office before filing. Keep the notice and every receipt until the application is complete.
