Requirements
Category C at 18: when can you qualify with the goods CQC?
The ordinary minimum age for C is 21; the route at 18 requires a goods CQC obtained before the practical test.
The ordinary minimum age for category C is 21. It can be obtained at 18 through the prescribed professional qualification route for the goods CQC: the CQC must be obtained before the category C practical test.
The earlier route requires the CQC
MIT gives 21 as the ordinary minimum age for category C, with a reduction to 18 for candidates who complete the required professional qualification route for the goods CQC. To take the category C practical test at 18, you must have obtained the goods CQC before the test, not merely booked or started the course. The age exception therefore depends on a qualification that has actually been awarded and can be documented.
You must also hold category B and pass the required C tests. Confirm the sequence of application, CQC course, examinations and practical test with your training provider and UMC, so you do not book the practical before you have the required qualification. Keep the CQC records and certificate. If you have not obtained it before the test, the ordinary age requirement or another route provided by law may apply to your specific situation.
The CQC and category C are separate qualifications
The goods CQC is a professional qualification, while category C is the licence category for driving certain heavy vehicles. Obtaining one does not automatically grant the other: you must complete their requirements and examinations separately. After they are issued, check that both are valid for the type of transport you will perform and that the codes and expiry dates are correct.
Before starting, check your age, B licence, medical fitness, course schedule and test dates. CQC training covers professional material that does not replace the category C test; likewise, passing the C theory and practical tests does not award the CQC. Planning the steps in order helps avoid discovering later that a qualification is missing for the test or a job. The UMC and training provider can check which documents your particular route requires.
Quiz Patente Ufficiale supports theory study for C and goods CQC with chapters, exam quizzes, mistake review and statistics. The course and practical test require their separate official procedures and qualifications.
