Requirements
When is a licence medical handled by the Local Medical Commission?
The CML assesses specified cases, including clinical doubts and some professional categories above age limits.
A Local Medical Commission medical is required for clinical conditions that may raise doubts about fitness, special licences and some C or D categories above age limits. An authorised doctor refers the applicant when a panel assessment is needed.
Cases assigned to the Commission
The Local Medical Commission (CML) is a panel of doctors, distinct from an examination carried out by one certifying doctor. The MIT says the CML assesses fitness when a clinical condition may raise doubts about driving, for special licences and for C or D licences above certain age limits. It considers the individual circumstances and may set a shorter validity period than the ordinary one.
For an ordinary medical, you cannot choose the CML simply because you prefer a panel decision. If the examining doctor finds a reason for further assessment, they may refer you to the Commission. Follow the appointment notice and ask the CML office which reports, certificates and booking steps are required. Do not infer the applicable medical route from a diagnosis or age without advice.
Documents and receipt validity
Bring the documents required for your case and keep the receipt issued by the Commission. For a category B application, the MIT says a CML receipt must be no more than six months old; a single-doctor receipt must be no more than three months old. These periods concern the receipt’s age when you submit the application, not the length of your licence. Check the current rule for your category and application.
If the Commission requests additional records, ask which are necessary and how to send them. Quiz Patente Ufficiale helps you prepare for category B theory with quizzes and explanations, but it does not provide medical advice or decide whether you are fit to drive.
Quiz Patente Ufficiale helps you study category B theory and quizzes; medical assessments and CML records follow the official procedure.
