CML visit: how long is the receipt valid for a licence application?
For a category B application, the MIT says a CML receipt must be no more than six months old.
If your medical visit was carried out by a Local Medical Commission, the receipt for a category B application must be no more than six months old when filed, according to the MIT page. Plan your application within that period.
The CML limit differs from the single-doctor limit
The MIT distinguishes the receipt from a single authorised doctor from the one issued after a Local Medical Commission visit. For a category B application, the single-doctor receipt must be no more than three months old; a CML receipt must be no more than six months old. If your visit was with the Commission, calculate the period from the date printed on the receipt and consider when the application will actually be submitted.
These limits concern the medical paperwork attached to the application; they do not replace the medical judgement. A receipt still within its period does not automatically establish fitness: it records that the required assessment was carried out. If the date is unclear or your application is paused for extra documents, contact the UMC before reusing it.
Schedule the steps without losing validity
Once you have the CML date, check how long it will take to gather other documents and book the application appointment. If the Commission requests further examinations, ask when it will issue the receipt needed for the application. If the six-month period is approaching, do not wait until the last day; ask the office how to file or whether updated documentation will be needed.
Keep the original receipt and check that your personal details are correct. A driving school can help coordinate the appointment, but the UMC confirms the application requirements.
