Moving a licence application to another UMC: what happens to test attempts?

If you transfer your category B application to another UMC, ask the first office to send the file and the receiving office to confirm receipt, recorded tests and remaining attempts. A transfer does not automatically reset your history or extend deadlines.

Have both offices check the file

Before changing offices, contact the UMC holding your application and ask for the transfer procedure, forms and administrative timing. Then speak with the receiving office to confirm it can take over the file and manage later tests. Provide the protocol number, category, learner-permit date and current contact details; request a written reference for the transfer.

The file may contain the application, payments, theory result, bookings, test outcomes and number of attempts used. Ask the new office to confirm which items are already visible and whether any receipt or certificate is missing. Do not book a test at the new location until the receiving UMC confirms your file is available in its system and the booking can be linked correctly.

Attempts and deadlines still apply

Moving the file does not restore tests already used or renew the learner permit. Ask for every previous result to be carried over and verify how many theory or practical attempts remain for your stage. Check the expiry date of the authorisation and certificates before accepting a new appointment, allowing for the time needed to transfer the file.

If you already have a test date, ask both offices whether it must be cancelled and rebooked or can be retained once the new office takes charge. Keep receipts, correspondence, test results and transfer confirmation. If there is a delay, contact the UMC before your deadline and ask which formal options are available; do not assume an extension. A written check of the test history avoids surprises about remaining attempts on test day.
