Driving licence: how to match PagoPA receipts to the right application
Before filing, check that the PagoPA tariff, applicant and application stage match the payment notice.
To match a PagoPA payment to the right licence application, check the tariff and application stage on the Portale dell’Automobilista and enter the applicant’s tax code. Print the official receipt from the portal.
Check the tariff and applicant details
Motorisation fees are paid through PagoPA by selecting the application and corresponding tariff on the Portale dell’Automobilista. Before confirming, check that the item covers the licence category and the correct stage, such as an application or test booking. A notice for another procedure does not become valid just because the amount looks similar. If you pay for another person, the MIT says the tax code must match the holder of the licence or document being requested; update the applicant details during the payment process before confirming.
Keep the IUV reference and check payment status in your portal account. The valid receipt to present to the UMC or medical facility is the one printed from the Portale dell’Automobilista, not the confirmation screen or receipt produced by a bank, app or retailer. After payment, open “My payments”, select the paid procedure and print the available receipt. If the payment does not appear or is assigned to the wrong details, contact the MIT-listed support service before paying again.
Avoid paying twice
According to the MIT guide, a paid payment not yet used for an application does not expire; that does not mean it can be applied to any category or stage. Check that the tariff code is correct and that the payment remains unused. If you selected a wrong or unnecessary item, follow the MIT instructions for erroneous or unused payments and ask about refund or correction. Do not create a second payment notice before checking the first payment’s status.
For example, you are booking the B practical test but paid a tariff for another procedure. Similar amounts do not allow you to match it yourself: check the tariff list, ask the UMC or PagoPA support and follow the procedure for an incorrect payment.
