Changing address while a licence application is open: what to do
If you move during an open application, notify the UMC handling it and ask whether the file must be transferred.
Tell the UMC where you filed the application about your move and ask how to update your contact details and continue the process. Do not assume the file moves automatically to another office.
Notify the office handling your application
A move while a licence application is open can affect communications and appointments, especially if you relocate to another province. Contact the UMC that received the application, quote its protocol number and provide your new residence or contact details through its official method. Ask what documents it needs to update your record and whether it will keep the file. Updating the address on a licence already issued is a different process from managing an open application.
If your new residence falls under another UMC, do not stop the existing process or send duplicate applications on your own. Ask whether the file should be transferred, which office will coordinate it and how any tests already taken or booked will be handled. Keep written replies and delivery receipts. If a driving school is assisting you, tell it about the move, but confirm administrative steps with the competent office.
Protect appointments and communications
Before accepting a new appointment, check that your updated contact details are recorded and ask whether existing bookings remain valid. If only a temporary address changes while your residence does not, explain the difference and ask which details need updating. Do not assume notices will be forwarded automatically. Keep the application, messages, protocol and receipts together in case the file is transferred.
For example, you applied in Milan and then moved your residence to Bologna before the theory test. Contact Milan with the application reference and ask whether you should test there or transfer the file; wait for instructions before booking with another UMC. Quiz Patente Ufficiale lets you continue theory revision with quizzes, explanations and error review; it does not update applications or addresses.
Quiz Patente Ufficiale helps you keep revising theory with quizzes, explanations and error review while the UMC handles your application.
