Changing driving schools after enrolment: what happens to your file?
Before leaving your school, ask how to transfer the file and check with the UMC what happens to exams, bookings and payments.
If you change driving schools while obtaining a B licence, coordinate the file transfer with both schools and ask the UMC how the application, exam attempts and bookings will be recorded. Do not assume that changing schools automatically transfers or cancels every administrative step.
Clarify what will transfer
Before ending your enrolment, ask the current school which documents belong to you, which records are held by the UMC and what internal steps are needed to move to another school. Tell the new school the state of your file: whether theory is passed, whether a learner permit was issued, how many attempts you have used, whether practical lessons started and whether a test is booked. A school can arrange training and bookings, but its change does not necessarily update the motorisation office automatically.
Ask for a written list of documents to hand over and keep copies of the application, receipts, certificates and notices. If a test has been booked, check who booked it and whether it remains valid after the change. Do not cancel it until the new school or UMC confirms the next step; availability may depend on the office and location.
Tests, fees and continuity
Payments are tied to particular fee codes and procedures. Before paying again, check whether the previous payment was used and whether it remains valid for the next stage. If you have passed theory, ask the UMC how the learner permit, deadlines and attempts appear in the file. A new school can organise training but cannot guarantee a test date or result.
