B test as a private candidate with a school car: which costs to ask about

If you are a private candidate using a driving-school car for the B test, ask for a quote that separates the public fee, vehicle, instructor and booking or application-management service. This distinguishes the amount due to the administration from the service price.
Ask for separate items and what they include
The Ministry fee for the test is separate from services offered by a driving school. Use of a suitable car, the instructor’s presence and help with booking may be included in a package or charged separately. Ask in writing which items make up the total: test car, transport to the centre, authorised instructor, any preparation lesson and administrative handling.
MIT requires the category B test vehicle to have dual controls and meet the technical specifications. Check that the offer actually includes a compliant vehicle and whether the quote covers one test or every attempt. Also clarify cancellation or postponement terms if the UMC changes the date and whether the public fee remains your responsibility.
Compare quotes on the same basis
A low price may exclude the instructor or transport to the test centre; a higher one may include an additional lesson. Compare each item and ask whether amounts are inclusive of tax, which payment methods are accepted and whether an invoice or receipt will be issued. Check public fees in the PagoPA guide and current MIT schedule; do not rely on a figure another candidate remembers without checking its year and fee code.
If a service includes booking or file management, ask whether the school will also perform any administrative change needed when you applied as a private candidate. Do not confuse a PagoPA fee with the price of a car or instructor: these are separate services. Keep the quote, public-payment receipts and driving-school receipt so you can check what has already been paid before booking another attempt.
