Licence medical certificate: when does it expire after the visit?

For a category B application, the MIT sets a three-month limit for a single-doctor receipt and six months for a CML receipt.

For a category B application, the MIT says a single-doctor medical receipt must be no more than three months old and a Local Medical Commission receipt no more than six months old. Calculate from the certificate date and check the current procedure.

Validity depends on who examined you

The medical receipt cannot be used indefinitely for a licence application. On its category B page, the MIT distinguishes the validity period by the type of examination: no more than three months for a visit with one authorised doctor and no more than six months for a Local Medical Commission assessment. These are different limits; do not apply the longer period automatically to a single-doctor receipt.

The date on the receipt is compared with when you file the application. Check the printed date and ask the UMC how the period applies if your application was paused for additional documents or is being resubmitted. A medical certificate does not determine how long the licence remains valid and does not guarantee fitness beyond the examination; it is a document required for that application.

Plan the medical and application steps

To avoid the receipt becoming too old, book the medical when you have a realistic estimate of when you can file the application. If the UMC appointment is far away or changes, check the period before submitting. If you were seen by a CML, use its separate limit. Do not reuse a photocopy of an earlier visit if it is outside the stated period; ask the provider or office whether a new assessment is needed.

Keep the original and a copy, and make sure the name and date are readable. Quiz Patente Ufficiale helps you revise category B quizzes, explanations and errors; the app does not manage medical certificates or administrative deadlines.
